Forest Gate Community School

SFS solutions help major remodelling of Forest Gate Community School

Situation

As part of the London Borough's secondary school place expansion programme, the outstanding performing Forest Gate Community School has expanded to take in a total of 1,350 students. The school was asked to expand by Newham Council to accommodate the growing school age population in the borough. This includes entry via Kuhn Way part of the school and a mews walkway in Brooking Way, in-line with works carried out for the Crossrail development.

With Forest Gate Community School becoming ever more popular, means many families who live just a mile away can no longer get a place at the school.

Solution

Complete building envelope contractor Green House Developers has chosen rainscreen support and fastening solutions from SFS for the major remodeling of Forest Gate Community School, as part of its cladding contract from the London Borough Newham's Building Schools for the Future Programme.

NVELOPE® NH3 Horizontal Bracket rainscreen support systems were used for the façade installation. The NH3 system supports Valcan Vitradual panels. This back frame configuration minimises the number of brackets needed per square meter for greater efficiency without compromise, compared to many horizontal systems in the market. This provided a secret-fix solution for excellent visual appeal of the finished façade.

All NVELOPE® support systems are designed for architects and built for installers, which means they enable architectural visions to come to life and deliver long-term integrity to match the design life of the building envelope.
